Summary:A moving device and a controlling method thereof. The moving device includes a carrier and a caterpillar band. The caterpillar band is disposed on the carrier. The caterpillar band includes a plurality of paddles, a driving unit and a turning unit. The paddles are disposed around an edge of caterpillar band. The driving unit drives each paddle move around the edge of the caterpillar band. The turning unit turns each paddle such that each paddle transforms between a first status and a second status. When the each paddle is at the first status, the normal line of each paddle is substantially parallel to a moving direction of the paddle. When the each paddle is at the second status, the normal line of each paddle is substantially perpendicular to the moving direction of the paddle.
