Summary:A method, apparatus and computer program product for partition a codebook and selection a precoding codeword from the codebook are disclosed. The codebook comprises a plurality of codewords. The partition method partitions the codebook according to a distance between each two codewords of the codebook, so that a tree structure is formed. The selection method will first computer a theoretical precoding codeword, and select a codeword that nearest to the theoretical precoding codeword as a precoding codeword based on the tree structure of the partitioned codebook. Then, an index corresponding to the precoding codeword is transmitted. According to aforementioned methods, the invention can decrease the calculation amount of data related to the precoding codeword and the number of operation times that needed for selection the precoding codeword.
