Summary:An intensive and extensive study is made on an EP4 receptor agonist, and it is found that a novel pyridone compound in which position-1 of a pyridone ring is substituted by a group having an acidic group such as a carboxyl group and position-6 of the pyridone ring is bound to an aromatic ring group via a lower alkyl, a lower alkylene, an ether or a thioether has a good EP4 receptor agonist activity. The compound has a good EP4 receptor agonist activity and a good activity of increasing the femoral blood flow in a rat, and is therefore useful as a medicinal agent, particularly a therapeutic agent for peripheral arterial disease.
