The present invention provides a color filter capable of preventing flaking off of a color pattern and generation of defects on a display due to light leakage or foreign substances when the color filter is used in a display device, by providing the color filer having a resin black matrix and a color pattern on a base substrate, wherein the film thickness of the black matrix is 1.5 m or less, the color pattern has a rectangular or tapered cross-sectional form on the resin black matrix, and a ratio [L/t] of a length of the taper L to a thickness t on the cross-section of the pattern end is 1.0 or less.
