Summary:The invention relates to an additive for liquid crystal having high helical twisting power (HTP). The structure of the additive is an organic polycyclic ester with chiral activity, which can be prepared by reacting isosorbide with various organic acids via esterification. Furthermore, the additional chiral center on organic acid moiety can modulate the HTP value of liquid crystal. The additives are highly soluble in nematic liquid crystal (host), and liquid crystal compositions containing the additives can obtain higher HTP and good light stability.
