Summary:A method for controlling reading velocity in a disk device is to read datum and form an error check and correction code from the synchronization signal of a disk medium. When data are decoded, the error check and correction code is used to detect errors and to generate an error signal. The error signal is classified and counted leased on the error types to form reference parameters in a data base. A fuzzy engine is used to adjudge and implements the velocity requirement of each error type if the count excesses the threshold of the error type. The data transfer rate of the disk device can be raised.
