Summary:This invention relates to the device and its method for eliminating advertising data. It comprises a character-extracting unit, a detecting module, and an eliminating module. The character-extracting unit analyzes multimedia data comprising at least one piece of video-audio data, in order to extract plural the first character data from the video-audio data. The detecting module detects plural the first character data, and plural the second character data comprising at least one piece of advertising data and outputs a detected result. According to the detected result, the eliminating module identifies whether the video-audio data is advertising data it eliminates video-audio data relative to the detected result, the user need not wait for the ending of advertising data or can use the fast forward function of a player to skip advertising data to watch the main content of multimedia data. By means of this way, it improves the viewing and admiring quality of multimedia data for a user.
