Summary:This method for evaluating aptitude of a pigment composition for optical recording medium comprises a 1st process for setting temperature of a sample containing a pigment composition or atmospheric temperature of a sample to two or more different predetermined temperatures, and measuring absorbance of predetermined wavelength light at each predetermined temperature concerning the sample; and a 2nd process for evaluating the aptitude at the time of containing the pigment composition in a recording layer of the optical recording medium based on one or more conditions to be set from a correlation between the predetermined temperatures and the absorbance.
