Summary:The present invention provides a method for preparing a polymeric planar optical waveguide device, comprising the steps of: providing a substrate; coating a cladding material on the substrate to form a cladding layer and curing the cladding layer; coating a core material on the cladding layer to form a core layer; forming a mask layer on the core layer, irradiating the mask layer with polarized light at least one time to expose the portions of the core layer corresponding to the openings of the mask layer to the polarized light one or many times, so as to generate directional crosslink and form optical paths; and finally, removing the mask layer and curing the remaining core layer and the optical paths.
