The water supply passes through two chambers (9,10) separated by a spring loaded constricting valve (39). The pressures in the two chambers route to two sides (13, 14) of a diaphragm (12). The diaphragm is mechanically connected (26) to the flow control (15) for the burner (7) in the water heater (6). As water demand increases the differential between the two chambers increases and in turn increases the supply of gas to the burner.
