Opisuje sa spôsob prípravy citalopramu zahŕňajúcireakciu zlúčeniny všeobecného vzorca (IV), v ktorej R je halogén alebo CF3-(CF2)n-SO2-O-, n je 0 až8, s kyanidovým zdrojom v prítomnosti paládiovéhokatalyzátora a katalytického množstva Cu+ alebo Zn2+ alebo so Zn(CN)2 v prítomnosti paládiového katalyzátora.
