Summary:Hypocholesterolemic sugar-substituted 2-azetidinones are disclosed, as well as a method of lowering cholesterol by administering said compounds, pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and the combination of a sugar-substituted 2-azetidinone cholesterol-lowering agent and a cholesterol biosynthesis inhibitor for the treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis. Sú opísané hypocholesterolemické 2-azetidinóny substituované cukrovými zvyškami všeobecného vzorca (I), farmaceutický prípravok a kombinovaný farmaceutický prípravok, ktorý ich obsahuje. Uvedené 2-azetidinóny samotné alebo v kombinácii s inhibítorom biosyntézy cholesterolu a farmaceuticky prijateľným nosičom sa používajú na prevenciu alebo liečenie zníženia hladiny cholesterolu a aterosklerózy.ŕ
