Summary:A process for the production of thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride molding compositions comprises modification with a core-shell modifier comprising a polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer core and a cross-linked alkyl acrylate- or alkylmethacrylate homo- or copolymer shell and the graft polymerization of the vinyl chloride monomer is carried out in the presence of the toughening agent. A process for the production of thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) molding compositions (I) modified with an elastomer containing a core-shell modifier (II), having improved impact and corner strength and improved surface gloss is characterized such that the core of the toughening agent comprises polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloride copolymer and the shell comprises cross-linked alkyl acrylate- or alkylmethacrylate homo- or copolymers and the graft polymerization of the vinyl chloride monomer is carried out using a suspension process in the presence of the toughening agent. An Independent claim is included for a thermoplastic PVC composition (I) containing 2-80 wt.% of the core-shell modifier (II).
