Summary:An occlusion device and manufacturing includes of thin wires or threads made from a shape-memory material. In the expanded state, the occlusion device exhibits a proximal and a distal retention area as well as a cylindrical crosspiece interposed therebetween. Because the proximal retention area of braiding exhibits a form which flares toward the proximal end, in the inserted state of the occlusion device, the lateral edge of proximal retention area lies substantially flush with the septum wall and retention area does not protrude past the septum wall. The manufacturing method includes a braiding technique for producing a tubular braiding open to the top and which needs only be provided with a holder for bundling the threads or wires of the braiding at one end, while at the opposite side, the threads or wires of braiding are intertwined from the center thereof.
