Summary:A ceiling fan is provided with a control unit (3) for controlling a DC motor (2) that causes blades to rotate. Further, the control unit (3) is provided with a rotation speed detection unit (6) for detecting a rotation speed of the DC motor (2), a current detection unit (7) for detecting the value of a current supplied to the DC motor (2), and a target rotation speed setting unit (12) for setting a target rotation speed of the DC motor (2). The control unit (3) is further provided with a rotation speed control unit (9) for controlling the DC motor (2) in such a manner that the rotation speed detected by the rotation speed detection unit (6) becomes a target rotation speed, and a target rotation speed correction unit (8) for changing the target rotation speed in such a manner that the value of the current detected by the current detection unit (7) falls within a predetermined range. Because the DC motor (2) is capable of operating at a set current value, the ceiling fan can be operated with a predetermined capacity irrespective of the state of installation on a ceiling.
