Summary:A brake disc (2) is connected to the hoist drum in such a way as to be locked against rotation. A fixed bracket (3) has a first brake lining (4). A movable arm (5) has a second brake lining (6). Arranged on one end of this arm is a ball bearing (7) which, upon relief of the tension on the hoisting rope, is pressed down between the fixed bracket (3) and a plate (8) running at an angle thereto. The brake disc (2) is thus clamped in position between the two brake linings by wedge action.
