Summary:The derivatives of cyclopentane of formula (I) below, in which R = H or alkyl, R = aryl or heterocyclyl, R = H, alkyl or carboxylic acyl, n = 5 to 8, and: either A = alkylene, X = ethylene or trans-vinylene, and Z = direct bond or O or S atom; or A and Z = direct bonds, and X = ethylene, are prepared by reduction of the compounds of formula (II) below, in which Y represents CO or CHOH, optionally followed by esterification of the COOH group, or esterification or etherification of the OH groups. The products act, in particular, against gastric acid secretion and for the cicatrisation (ulosis) of gastric ulcers.
