Summary: | The low speed salient-pole synchronous machine has the coils of its excitation windings constructed from flat conductors whose outer surfaces run parallel to the walls of the poles. These flat conductors are enclosed only in insulating material of synthetic resin and form self-supporting components. The coils are only held at the ends of the poles by a holder connected with either the poles or the body of the rotor. This holder holds the coils away from the poles leaving a gap between them, and consists of an insulating tape. The flat conductors may also have cooling vanes. |
