Summary:The fireproof casing (12) is of material such as steel, and contains at least one sleeve (13) of thermically expanding material. The casing and sleeve or sleeves are divided into two halves along axially extending division lines so that they may be assembled around a pipe or tube. The casing has two outwardly extending flanges (18) which likewise are divided, and which are used for holding the casing against screening.
