Summary:1276263 Synthetic resin compositions FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 26 March 1970 [27 March 1969] 14668/70 Headings C3B C3C C3P and C3R Synthetic resin compositions contain as flameproofing agent 5-70% of a copolymer of (a) 2- 30% ethylene or propylene, or mixture of one of these with α-butylene or isobutylene, (b) 98- 20% of a halogen-containing α-olefin, (c) 0- 40% of an OH-containing monomer and (d) 0- 50% of a halogen-containing telogen, the copolymer having a halogen content of 40-80% and a molecular weight of 300-3000. Copolymers, which are oily or greasy, prepared are ethylene/vinylidene chloride, ethylene/vinyl chloride also with hydroxymethyl norbornene, methyl vinyl carbinol, alkyl hydroxypropanol, hydroxypropyl methacrylate, carbon tetrachloride or carbon tetrabromide propylene/vinyl chloride/carbon tetrachloride and ethylene/vinyl bromide/bromoform. In examples they are added to (1) low-pressure polyethylene, (2) vinyl chloride/ethylene copolymer,(3) polyvinyl chloride, (4) polystyrene with antimony trioxide, (5) polyester from butylene glycol, maleic anhydride and phthalic anhydride with styrene and antimony oxide hardened with benzoyl peroxide, (6) diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A hardened with methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride and dimethylbenzylamine, (7) diglycidyl ester of hexahydrophthalic acid with the same hardeners as (6), (8) a styrene suspension, polymerization in the presence of polystyrene, the product being swollen in pentane and expanded in a mould with steam, (11) diphenylmethane diisocyanate, which is then converted into a polyurethane foam with sucrose polyether, N,N-di-#-hydroxyethylamino methyl phosphonic acid diethyl ester, trichlorofluoromethane silicone stabilizer and N- methyl - N - ethyl - dimethylamino piperazine (12)-(17) similar polyurethane foams.
