Summary:A composition for coating concrete and brickwork or for marking roads comprises 20 to 98 parts by weight of sulphur and 80 to 2 parts by weight of a condensation product obtained by reacting together a haloepoxy-alkane, a polysulphide of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal and at least 1 mol. of hydrogen sulphide per mol. of polysulphide. The condensation product may have the formula <FORM:1116090/C3/1> where R is a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic radical containing 1 to 16 carbon atoms, m is from 0 to 17, and p is from 4 to 24. The composition is obtained by mixing the sulphur with the condensation product at 120 DEG to 250 DEG C., and may include sand, pumice powder, bentonite, asbestos fibres, glass balls, glass fibres and pigments, e.g. CdS and organic colorant. In examples, compositions contain condensation products obtained by reacting 1-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane (epichlorhydrin), 1-chloro-3,4-epoxybutane, 1 - bromo - 3,4 - epoxybutane and 2 - chloro - 3,4 - epoxyhexane with sodium, potassium and calcium polysulphides and hydrogen sulphide.ALSO:A composition for coating concrete and brickwork or for marking roads comprises 20 to 98 parts by weight of sulphur and 80 to 2 parts by weight of a condensation product obtained by reacting together a haloepoxyalkane, a polysulphide of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal and at least 1 mol. of hydrogen sulphide per mol. of polysulphide.
