Summary:1312286 Flame-resistant expandable styrene polymers CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 11 Sept 1970 [13 Sept 1969] 43523/70 Heading C3C A flame-resistant styrene polymer is made by adding liquid tribromophenyl dibromopropyl ether at 80-150‹ C. to an aqueous suspension of a particulate styrene polymer containing an expanding agent, e.g. n-pentane or hexane. The suspension may also contain monomer(s) and the mixture of styrene polymer and monomer(s) may be polymerized to completion in the presence of the ether. Additional expanding agent may be added to the suspension of styrene polymer. Substances which enhance the flameresistant effect of the ether, e.g. ditert.-butyl peroxide or dicumyl peroxide, may be used with the ether
