A female element 2 has a terminal portion 5 adapted to be brought into frictional contact with a part 9 of a male element 1 and a portion 4 which is located opposite a part 8 of the male element so as to form an annular chamber 11; an annular seal 6 is interposed between a radial end face of the male element and a co-operating annular shoulder 10 of the female element. The element 1 is coated with a layer of ceramic material, and the part 5 of the element 2 is shrunk on to element 1 and subjected to rapid cooling to produce a longitudinal contraction of the female element to compress the seal 6. |
