Summary:FIELD: physics, computing. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of manufacture of printed products protected against falsification and may be used during manufacture of valuable paper documents, such as banknotes, cheques, etc., as well as paper for documents, for example, personal identifications, certificates, etc. The technical result of the invention is the increase in the degree of protection of printed products against falsification, and simplification of detection in the automatic mode, using machines. The protection element is a tape with shaped edges made of a ferromagnetic material, the shaped edges of the tape are designed symmetrical and/or asymmetrical relative to the longitudinal axis of the tape, with regular and/or period, the ferromagnetic tape shaped edge profile determines the temporal dependency of the signal obtained from the recording magnetic head. To enhance the protection effect of printed products against falsification, the protection element may be provided with at least one additional protection means carrying visually detectable or machine readable information. ^ EFFECT: enhanced degree of protection of printed products against falsification, and simplification of detection in automatic mode, using machines. ^ 15 cl, 2 dwg
