Summary:FIELD: protective means for atomic industry and radiation technology, manufacture of containers for radioactive material storage and shipment. ^ SUBSTANCE: heavy concrete has aggregate, coat, and depleted uranium dioxide unit, fractional composition of particles being as follows, volume percent: those measuring 5 to 10 mm, 20-50; 1.25 to 5 mm, 10-30; and 0.63 to 1.25 mm, 10-20; it also has steel or cast-iron pellet measuring 0.3 to 0.6 mm in amount of 10-20 volume percent. Uranium dioxide based aggregate includes SiO2, TiO2, ZrO2, Na2O, K2O, CaO, MgO, Fe2O3, Al2O3, UO2, B2O3 and inevitable impurities in definite proportion. Aggregate production includes preparation of uranium dioxide powders and reaction additive, mixing of components, compression of mixture obtained, crushing, sizing into fractions, and sintering of briquettes at regular cooling. Reaction additive is prepared basing on mixture of natural datolite and bentonite materials whose masses are taken in 0.5 to 0.9 ratio of first to second ones; they are sources of SiO2, Na2O, K2O, CaO , MgO, Fe2O3, and Al2O3; then desired amount of TiO2, ZrO2, Ka2CO3, Na2SiO3 is added to mixture obtained. ^ EFFECT: enhanced density, strength, lambda-ray absorption characteristics of homogeneous heat-conducting and radiation-shielding composition. ^ 1 cl, 2 dwg
