FIELD: oil extractive industry, maintenance of main oil pipelines without stopping the flow, possible use for preparation of external surface of pipelines before applying new covers. ^ SUBSTANCE: method for drying external surface of oil pipeline includes affecting cleaned moist surface by air which is heated, preliminarily dried, and then swirled a chamber, and cover application zones are protected from environment by a screen of dried air. In the device for removing moisture from pipeline surface in front of heating device in air preparation block adsorption dryer is installed, and collapsible circular chamber is made with air swirler, provided with nozzles having angle of inclination to pipeline surface of 45°, while frontal part of chamber has a compaction, and back part is made with slit gap and a jacket for creation of air protection screen around the dried surface, where chambers are installed in front of each device for applying covers by priming and isolating machines. ^ EFFECT: removal of moist appearing on the surface of oil pipeline. ^ 2 cl, 1 dwg
