Summary:FIELD: metallurgy; melting steel in open-hearth or electrical steel-melting furnaces. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method of blowing metal in molten metal pool of electric steel-melting furnace includes delivery of oxygen jets through lance nozzles mounted in side wall of furnace below level of molten metal either horizontally or at angle to surface of hearth lined with refractory materials. At horizontal position of lance, it is mounted above hearth surface at minimum level equal to 8-12 diameters of outlet nozzle of lance to avoid action of oxygen. Nozzles of lance located at angle relative to surface of hearth are mounted at level ensuring position of final section of oxygen jet in molten metal not below level of oxygen jet fed at horizontal position of lances. Lances may be mounted stationary in side wall of furnace or movably in direction of metal pool. ^ EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of blowing; increased service life of blast equipment; enhanced resistance of lining; increased output of furnace. ^ 3 cl, 1 dwg, 1 ex
