Summary:FIELD: rare metal technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrometallurgy of rare elements, in particular gallium, and can be used for recovering gallium from alumina production solutions. Recovery comprises extraction of gallium from alkali solutions with N-(2-hydroxy-5-nonylbenzyl)-beta,beta-dihydroxyethylamine solution in n-octanol followed by separation of gallium and aluminum in the re-extraction stage using various-concentration (2 to 3 M) HCl solutions. Degree of gallium recovery achieves ~94-99% at NaOH concentration 0.5 to 5 M from individual solutions and 58% from solutions containing 0.3 g/L Ga, ~30 g/L Al, and 3.9 M NaOH. ^ EFFECT: increased gallium extraction velocity and yield. ^ 4 tbl, 6 ex
