Summary:FIELD: petrochemical process catalysts. ^ SUBSTANCE: catalyst is prepared by precipitation of zirconium hydroxide by ammonium hydroxide from zyrconyl nitrate solution at constant pH 8.3-8.9, separation of precipitated hydroxide by filtration, drying, promotion with iron nitrate, drying, sulfatation with sulfuric acid, drying of sulfated hydroxide, and calcination at 600-700. Constancy of pH in precipitation stage is achieved by gradually and simultaneously adding to precipitation vessel 15% zyrconyl nitrate solution and 12.5% ammonium hydroxide. Catalyst contains zirconium oxide promoted with 0.7-1.5% iron cations and 3.0-9.7% of sulfate anions. ^ EFFECT: increased activity of catalyst and yield of isobutene, and eliminated washing of zirconium hydroxide to remove anions. ^ 3 cl, 1 tbl, 12 ex
