Summary:FIELD: nitrogen compounds production. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalyst and ammonia conversion process used in weak nitric acid production. Ammonia conversion catalyst represents a honeycomb-structure block catalyst based on mixed oxides depicted by general formula: ((2-x)MgO.xMeO).2-y)Al2O5.Al2O3.(5+y(2-x))SiO2, where x=0-2, y=0-0.5, and Me is Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Cr, V, or their mixtures, forming frame structure of cordierite with thermal expansion factor .10-7- 10-5 K-1 within temperature range up to 900.
