Summary:FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of making and restoration of load-bearing parts of freight cars with support surfaces operating under sliding friction conditions at high contact stresses. Proposed axle box cover plate is made of metal with wear resistance properties to shape of side frame support surface over axle box. Cover plate is trapezoidal, being made solid or provided with hole in middle part. Laps adjoin beveled sides of cover plate for bending behind contour of over axle box surface. Length of lap is not less than thickness of horizontal over axle box wall of part. Laps are made either solid or provided with recesses. Trapezoidal tabs adjoin the laps for bending onto rear side of side frame. EFFECT: improved serviceability of side frames and their repairability in zones of support surfaces of axle box apertures. 2 ex, 6 dwg
