Summary:structural seismology. SUBSTANCE: method deals with evaluation of intensity of vibration with due account of properties of soils making up building site. Seismic vibrations are excited in soil by artificial source of vibrations, are recorded by geophones placed on sections with different engineering and geological conditions, spectra of vibrations of examined and standard soils are constructed. Velocity of propagation of lateral waves and density of examined and standard soils are measured and frequencies of vibration of examined and standard soils are found by way of division of spectrum of horizontal vibrations by spectrum of vertical vibrations of examined and standard soils. Increments of magnitude of vibrations are determined from relation where ρ1 is density of standard soil, kg/cu m; V1 is velocity of propagation of lateral wave in standard soil, m/s; f(H/V)1 is frequency of vibrations of standard soil, Hz; ρ2 is density of examined soil, kg/cu m; V2 is velocity of propagation of lateral wave in examined soil, m/s; f(H/V)2 is frequency of vibrations of examined soil, Hz. Increments of magnitude are used to evaluate degree of seismic effect. EFFECT: increased reliability and accuracy of method thanks to control over contribution of non-linear phenomena into resulting soil motion. 2 tbl
