SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting off initial blank, preliminarily and finally shaping head at simultaneous upsetting of stem. Preliminary shaped head is in the form of truncated cone whose small base is turned to stem. Deformation degree of stem at each operation for preliminary and final shaping of bolt head is no more than 18%. Length of blank stem at preliminary shaping of head is more than length of stem blank at final shaping of head by value preventing stem formation of material of truncated cone of head at final shaping. EFFECT: enhanced quality of articles due to reduced shifting of head relative to stem, improved reliability of head-to-stem joint. 2 cl, 6 dwg
