Summary:purification of liquid and gaseous substances; applicable, for instance, in food and pharmaceutical industries for purification of potable water and alcohol and also in microelectronics. SUBSTANCE: filtering device includes casing with bottom and cover, and provided with branch pipes for supply of nonpurified substance and discharge of purifies substance; central perforated pipe; filter element whose body accommodates filter medium made of activated carbon porous fibers. Filter medium body is located so that its walls form clearance relative to casing walls. Filter medium 1.5-3.5 mm thick presents one or more toroidal figures formed of nonwoven carbon fibers with diameter of 2-8 mcm, specific surface of 500-3000 sq.m/g and volume of sorption pores mounting to 0.4-0.6 cu.cm/g. Toroidal figures are thread on central perforated pipe and forming clearance relative to body of filter medium. Branch pipe for discharge of purified substances located in bottom of said casing. Branch pipe for supply of nonpurified substances is located in lower side part of said casing. Filter element has removable end cover whose design allows change of density of filter medium to increase it by a factor of 1.5-2. EFFECT: provided selective filtering, prolonged service life of filter medium and increased specific surface of activated material; ensured versatility of device application for filtering of various liquids and gases. 5 cl, 1 dwg
