FIELD: textile industry, in particular, primary processing of bast fibers. SUBSTANCE: method involves processing raw bast material stem and top parts before and after binding by beating and combing for three passes in first, second and third sections defined by three pairs of drums at high difference beating and combing processes; providing separate collection of process wastes, including remains of stem and top parts of raw material, separate transportation to separate storage places or to sites for further processing. Apparatus for processing pressed stalk layer of raw material has conveyors with controlled drives and paired drums mounted in first, second and third sections. Guiding shields are arranged in spaced relation within zones where single-side contact of drum and raw material surfaces is provided, with spaces decreasing downstream of raw material flow and from the point of attachment of raw material fibers to it. Drum beats have peg-type card clothing. EFFECT: reduced metal usage, decreased power consumption of equipment and improved quality of elongate bast fibres. 5 cl, 2 dwgs
