Summary:FIELD: measurement technology, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy for measurement of dimensions of bars, plates, sheets and pipes, other branches of industry where contactless test of linear dimensions is necessary. SUBSTANCE: method of optical measurement of cross-sections of rolled products consists in registration of values of luminous fluxes from two sections with measured and specified dimensions correspondingly, in comparison of registered values and in usage of results in determination of measured dimensions of rolled products. Luminous fluxes from self-shining or illuminated surfaces of rolled product are analyzed. Values of luminous fluxes are registered in the course of time interval and dimensions of rolled product are determined with the aid of known functional dependence between compared luminous fluxes from sections, proportion of their areas and measured dimension.
