Summary:The invention relates to a process for preparing an electrically insulating fluid intended for mixed solid/liquid insulations in electrical equipments. According to the invention, the process consists in thermally treating raw vegetable oil containing 5%, at the most, fatty acid esters, such as linoleic acid or linolenic acid, and at least 90% monounsaturated fatty acid esters, such as oleic acid, and saturated fatty acid esters, such as stearic acid, in a ratio of 5:1, at 125...135°C, for 3...5 h, followed by a primary dehydration on silica gel, up to a moisture content of 50 ppm, at the most, after which 0.5...0.9% butanol is added, the mixture is thermally treated at a temperature of 115...125°C, for 4...6 h, and at the ambient temperature, with silica gel, up to a moisture content of 30 ppm, at the most, to finally obtain, after filtration, a fluid having a dielectric rigidity of at least 45 kV/cm, a flammability point of at least 250°C and fast biodegradability in natural conditions.
