Summary: | An upper layer is laminated onto a foam backing layer (17). The upper layer is a solid film in two or more colors based on a carrier layer (15) and one or more additional layers (16). The additional layer is located in a recess (19) of the carrier and is flush with the outer surface so that both carrier and additional layers form part of the visible surface and are of different colors. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for manufacturing a multi-colored film with a foam backing in which: (a) a thermoplastic carrier (15) of one color is produced with a surface recess (19); (b) a different colored additional layer (16) is fed into the recess and both layers are heated and compressed while smoothing to form a solid film; and (c) the outer face (55) of the solid layer is varnished and either laminated or bonded to the foam layer (17) while embossing the outer face of the solid layer; (2) a manufacturing process in which the recessed carrier, additional layer and foam layers are fed and combined simultaneously while smoothing the surface before varnishing and embossing the outer face; and (3) a process plant including a first extruder for producing and/or feeding a plastic layer to form the carrier, a second extruder for producing and/or feeding an additional plastic layer, equipment for supplying a foam layer, a polishing stack for combining either all three layers or just the layers of the solid film which are then laminated to the foam layer in a fourth machine. |
