Summary:Two or more metallic components (1,2) are connected by a thermoplastic plastic (3) which is injected onto the components and forms a positive connection with them. At the connecting point there is no direct contact between the metal parts and the plastic forms an electrically insulating layer between them. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a process for production of the composite component in which plastic (3) is injected into a space between metal components (1,2) prelocated at a distance from each other in an injection molding tool; and (b) use of the composite component as a structural member in machines, motor vehicles, electronic and household products and as a building member or as a structural component in motor vehicle parts, in particular valve covers, oil pans, doors, bumpers, supports, boot and bonnet parts for cars, door sill supporting frames and decorative items.
