The present invention relates to a device and a method for producing a rod for the tobacco processing industry. The method for producing a wrapping material belt of a rod product includes steps as follows: providing the wrapping material belt; transmitting the wrapping material belt to an embossing device along a vertical axis direction; embossing the wrapping material belt, and at least continuously transmitting the wrapping material belt temporarily at embossing; transmitting the embossed wrapping material belt to a checker unit, putting a bar material on the embossed wrapping material belt in an entry region of the checker unit, placing the embossed wrapping material belt on another wrapping material belt, and twining the embossed wrapping material belt and the another wrapping material belt through a twining material of the checker unit in the vertical axis transmission. According to the invention, the embossed wrapping material belt is guided through one guider device along the transmitting direction on at least two portions one after another between the embossing device and the entry region of the checker unit.
