Summary: | Polymer workpiece comprises a hydrophilic surface coated with poly(meth)acrylic acid, where a wetting angle of water on the workpiece surface coated with poly(meth)acrylic acid and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), has a value of 2 to less than 10[deg] . An independent claim is also included for hydrophilizing surfaces of polymeric workpieces, comprising (a) pre-treating the workpiece surfaces for cleaning and activating, (b) pre-coating the pre-treated workpiece surfaces, and (c) subsequent coating the pre-coated workpiece surfaces. The step (a) takes place in a high frequency gas plasma formed on the basis of an inert gas, the step (b) takes place with polyacrylic acid using a high frequency gas plasma generated from a gas mixture, which comprises an inert gas and a first gas comprising biocompatible- and polymerizable carboxyl groups containing monomers, and the step (c) takes place using a second gas containing acrylic monomers. |
