Summary:The invention relates to a multi-system traction power converter comprising a line-side supply device (2), a load-side self-commutated pulsed power converter (6) and an intermediate direct-voltage circuit (4). Said supply device (2) comprises a plurality of power converter groups (34), a medium-frequency transformer (38) having a plurality of primary windings (36) and a secondary winding (40), and an output power converter (48). Said power converter groups (34) are electrically connected in series on the network side and are linked to a primary winding on the transformer side. The output power converter (48) of the supply device (2) is connected to the secondary winding (40) on the alternating-current side and, on the direct-voltage side, to terminals of the self-commutated pulsed power converter (6) on the direct-voltage side by means of the intermediate direct-voltage circuit (4). According to the invention, the medium-frequency transformer (38) has a secondary winding (52) that is electrically mounted in parallel with terminals of a second output power converter (50) on the alternating current side. Said two output power converters (48, 50) can be configured by means of two switching appliances (54, 56) into a parallel connection or a series connection, on the direct current side. In this way, a full four-system multi-system traction power converter is produced from a known power-frequency transformerless traction power converter with line-side supply with a middle-frequency transformer (38).
