Summary:1. The method of preparing lead-bearing waste containing sulphur - especially lead-bearing slime in paste consistency, obtained from accumulator processing - for further processing into metallic lead consists in leaching in a solution of sodium carbonate. It is characterised in that the process of leaching is carried out at the environment temperature, while the ratio of the liquid phase to the solid phase is 4:1. Sodium carbonate is simultaneously introduced into the leaching solution, in the amount of 1.1 to 1.6 with respect to the theoretical amount for binding sulphur present in sulphate. The solution separated in the leaching process from the lead-bearing precipitate and containing sodium sulphate is treated with potassium hydroxide, until potassium sulphate precipitates. The remaining solution is subjected to carbonisation with gaseous carbon dioxide. The mixture obtained is filtered. The solution left after the separation of potassium sulphate precipitate, preferably after a correction by means sodium carbonate, is returned to the process of leaching lead-bearing waste containing sulphur. The precipitate separated from the solution after leaching is processed by a known method into metallic lead.
