Summary:The aim of the invention is to provide an adhesive-coated wallpaper that is easy to hang and can be displaced after the activation of the adhesive using water, despite its strong initial adhesion when moistened, in order to correct its position. To achieve this, the invention discloses a special wallpaper, whose rear face comprises an adhesive coating that is not tacky when dry, but can be activated using water. Said adhesive coating contains at least the following components: A) at least one cellulose ether with a retarded action, B) at least one pH regulator for the alkaline range of more than 8, C) at least one swellable, water-insoluble polymer with a grinding fineness of between 5 and 2, measured by means of an ALPINE air-jet sieve and D) at least one expansion agent. To hang the wallpaper, a) the wallpaper web is moistened with water and b) the moistened wallpaper web is pressed onto the wall.
