Summary:The prior art high-density coir baler uses hydraulic actuators to push the pressure plate into the compaction chamber. The length of the compaction stroke is severely limited by the danger of bucking of the actuator rod, hence many loading-and-compaction cycles are required to produce a bale of sufficient density. This utility model pulls, by wire ropes or roller chains, the compaction chamber toward the pressure plate. The pressure plate and its supporting frame are subject to compression, but these structures can be made sufficiently sturdy with much less expense than installing bigger diameter actuator rods. Hence with no danger of buckling the compaction stroke can be designed as long as practicable to reduce the number of loading-and-compaction cycles.
