Summary:A method for implementing an in-vehicle network running on a Recursive Internetwork Architecture (RINA) comprising registering a source application with the network via the Automotive Open System Architecture (AUTOSAR) library through a registration request. The registration request is then validated and a port number is determined for communicating with the destination application. The source application then sends a communication request to the destination application via the determined port. The communication request is then processed by the source application's RINA library and is recursively forwarded via one or more low-level RINA Distributed IPC Facilities (DIF) until the communication request reaches an Ethernet layer. The communication request is then forwarded via one or more Ethernet switches until it reaches a destination electronic control unit. Then, recursively forwarding the communication request to one or more high-level RINA DIFs until the received communication request reaches the destination application's AUTOSAR library and the destination application.
