Summary:A seismic device (3) that provides dissipation and recentering without deformation, comprising a housing (4) configured to be engaged with a supported structure (1) and a plurality of pairs of crossmembers (8), each pair of crossmembers (8) being configured in a radial arrangement to receive an elongate assembly (7) that is part of a baseplate member (5), where the baseplate member (5) is configured to be engaged with a supporting structure (2). The crossmembers (81, 82) of each pair are biased toward each other by a springing mechanism (9) to provide a frictional force in a movement control region (11) to the elongate assembly (7) that is part of the baseplate member (5), which resists axial movement of each crossmember pair (8) relative to the baseplate member (5).
