Summary:A swivel elbow and connector assembly for a patient interface system, including: a vented ring (60) configured to be sealingly secured in an aperture of the patient interface system, the ring comprising a plurality of vents (71) configured to permit flow of gases from the interior to the exterior of the patient interface system, the vents being positioned around a first axis; and an elbow (70) secured in the ring and configured to pivot relative to the vents around a second axis that is transverse to the first axis. A cross-section of an inner surface (76) of the ring parallel to a direction of gas flow through the elbow in use is arcuate and a cross-section of an outer surface (82) of the elbow parallel to the direction of gas flow through the elbow is arcuate to form a ball and socket connection with the ring.
