Summary:Disclosed herein is the use of a neuregulin for treating an existing peripheral nerve injury in a subject, wherein the peripheral nerve injury is the result of a trauma or medical procedure, wherein the trauma is due to a crush injury or a surgical procedure, and wherein the surgical procedure is a radical pelvic surgery for prostate cancer, bladder cancer or rectal cancer, and wherein the surgical procedure may be a tumor resection surgery including prostatectomy, a breast cancer surgery or a complete or partial mastectomy. The neuragulin is preferably GGF2 or an active fragment thereof.
