Summary:A retractable needle 400 for a syringe comprises a barrel 110 and a plunger 200 comprising a portion capable of engaging the retractable needle 400 for retraction of the retractable needle 400, the retractable needle 400 comprising a cannula 410, a needle body 420 having a plunger-engaging member 423, at least one aperture and an elongate portion 421 which houses at least part of the cannula 410. The cannula 410 comprises an end which does not extend into the plunger engaging member and is in fluid communication with the aperture. The aperture is located between the plunger-engaging member 423 and the elongate portion 421. The cannula extends into a space defined by the aperture.
